This could solve all the US economic problems....
I never liked the idea of taxing someone to give the money back. So…
What we need to do is to get people working. It is important that young people get a job and gravitate into getting a higher paying job. This would mean that the young be trained for a good paying job. Now, our kids are not trained to do anything once they are out of high school. In some parts of the country, the ones who do graduate are two or more years behind in reading and math scores of where they are supposed to be. How is anyone going to get a good job without any modest skills?
We could lower the minimum wage say to, $4.00 an hour. This would have to have some kind of on-the-job training program to qualify for this program. When the training is finished and the student tested for competencies, they would be certified and would get a stipend. This will ease the cost of hiring and get people working. This program would be directed towards the young. This would not be a tax / back program rather it would be an ease of hiring program without the red tape.
Extend the High School one more year. This program would be a combination of enrichment classes and vocational classes with an end result of certifications in intro to college, welding, electronics, foods, drafting, business, office, energy, cosmetology, nursing, government, construction, dental hygienist, and intro into apprenticeship programs. Not all of these learning areas need to be on campus. They don’t even need to be part of the school, just regulated by it. Standards are always needed. Classes taken could qualify for college credit.
The lower wage would be good for people who are just starting out, when a stipend is also used for completion. Employers could hire twice as many people at $4.00 an hour. The certifications would show that there is a level of competency achieved by the student. Most states have plans to extend high school already in anticipation of some kind of educational change. Indiana has a plan for a 14-year school program. This plan does not need to be invented. It’s ready to go.We would pay the student if they were certified in a vocational area. This would break the cycle of failure. We wouldn’t need to send our manufacturing jobs to China anymore. We would have a certified workforce ready to go here in the USA. If you have an opinion, post your name and/or pass it on
